S and S Plastics, a company based in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, scans CapacityTrader for potential clients and up loads their spare capacity every day, even on Bank holidays.

CapacityTrader is proven as the essential sales tool for people wishing to move their immediately available capacity S and S Plastics, a company based in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, scans CapacityTrader for potential clients and up loads their spare capacity every day, even on Bank holidays

Although a plastics injection moulding company, S and S have invested heavily in tool-room equipment to enable them to deliver a total package from die design and die manufacture to production of plastic components.

Commenting on why they invested so heavily in tool-room equipment and the part CapacityTrader is playing in the business, Richard Munyard, Managing Director of S and S, said, "We found that our clients wanted a seamless service from design to finished plastic components.

To achieve this we decided to invest in the plant and people necessary to provide this service.

It has worked well and we now have very good tool-room capabilities that are a stand-alone profit centre.

My view is that the business should be run on contribution and I am quite happy to offer my spare tool-room capacity at a price that adds contribution.

My costs are covered from my day to day business.

When we saw CapacityTrader it was the obvious route to take.

I offer my spare capacity at a very good price and still make a profit.

I intend to use CapacityTrader to drive the sale of my excess capacity taking on extra people where necessary." This Easter Monday, Tony Marsh, Tooling Manager at S and S logged on for a quick look and spotted a potential contract that had been open to all to tender.

Within a few minutes Tony had offered their spare capacity with the result being a new customer, Quickits.

Talking about his daily ritual of visiting CapacityTrader Tony said, "It is such an easy way to win business.

It takes a few minutes to scan the projects available for tender, you just press the 'all' button.

You make your offer and wait, it is as easy as that." Quickits , a valve mounting kit manufacturing company, based in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, who gave S and S Plastics the order, needed sub-contractors to produce their valve kits.

Rob Smith, Director of Quickits, said, "We are a small, specialist company.

Our strength is in the design and marketing of valve and actuator mounting kits that are ultimately to be used in process industries such as oil, gas, food, beverage, chemical and petrochemicals.

We need good quality manufacturing companies who can produce the parts for us.

Like many small business owners I don't have a lot of time to review the market so I uploaded my requirements to CapacityTrader, it only took a couple of minutes.

I opened the projects to all comers to tender.

I know the companies are all quality checked so I felt safe that I would only be approached by the right sort of company.

I was approached by six very high quality companies and I took the best deal.

S and S Plastics, the winning company, are only two miles away and I never knew they were there.

I have been so impressed I am going to give them further projects." CapacityTrader has an excellent spread of capabilities on offer.

These range from very specialised multi-axis laser engraving and sliding head machining to press brake facilities that are possibly one of the longest in the U.K.

- with a 15 metre long capacity.

There is also an array of other capabilities from electro-mechanical automation, multi-axis CNC machining including milling, turning, wire eroding and laser cutting to all aspects of fabrication including sheet metal, plastics, structural steelwork and heavy/light fabrication, injection moulding and vacuum forming.
