A cryogenic institute has recently expanded its cryogenic tumbling and blasting services for the removal of machine burrs on plastic and metal parts.

The Cryogenic Institute of New England is pleased to announce that its has recently expanded its cryogenic tumbling and blasting services for the removal of machine burrs on plastic and metal parts The process has successfully been employed to remove molding flash on plastic, rubber and die cast metal parts, but customer interest has proven that it is an excellent technology for removing machine burrs on parts as well

The process, available to manufacturers as a contract or job shop service, uses ultra cold temperatures to freeze the burrs while they are tumbled and blasted with a polycarbonate media.

Once frozen, the burrs readily break off, leaving a clean part with 100% burr removal.

Parts are then returned to room temperature with no dust or other residue remaining.

"Machined plastic parts are an ideal application for this process", said Robin Rhodes, President of the Cryogenic Institute of New England.

"Our customers are saving time and money while enjoying substantially improved quality", he added.

Sample parts can be sent to the company for evaluation or quotation and engineering support is also available.

Manufacturers interested in bringing the process in-house can purchase a system and technical support from the company as well.
