New SPDE tool rapidly estimates road

The majority of trucks are not weighed.
Illegally overweight trucks are often not fined for pavement damage.
Furthermore, most US states and countries lack estimates of road damage, particularly due to overweight trucks.
Research shows that the Straus Pavement Damage Estimation (SPDE ) can save states, taxpayers, and agencies millions per year through savings from avoided pavement damage.
According to the State of Vermont - Vermont Agency for Transportation (VTrans), Pavement Management Section, "This type of information has never been available - there is strong potential for SPDE results to play a part in developing more efficient and reliable pavement structures".
The Straus Pavement Damage Estimation tools are now exclusively available through Choice Pavement Systems.
As part of their commitment to improving the quality and safety of roads, the Choice Pavement Team is currently working on expanding their research on many different kinds of pavement damage estimations.
The study on the Straus Pavement Damage Estimation was disseminated through the National Academies of Science Transportation Research Board in February 2006.
It was also presented at their 85th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
