Package coding software reduces operator
error
Package coding software ensures that the input and transfer of data is controlled to bypass superfluous manual entry and avoid mismatches between primary and secondary packaging.
Claricom, specialist provider of Package Coding Management Systems (PCMS), is demonstrating at Logistics Link North how its software solutions can bring benefits across the entire supply chain Claricom technology targets a key concern for the logistics industry - data integrity - by ensuring the accuracy of all coding data

Network control demonstrated for all coders
The benefits of an independent approach to coding solutions were demonstrated at Pack Expo in Chicago, by network control on all types of coders from continuous ink jet to thermal transfer types.
"Modern logistics are faster and more efficient than ever before, ensuring that products are picked and shipped without delay," explained James Butcher, Claricom's managing director.
"However, it is all too often taken for granted that the coding data that underpins the supply chain has been inputted correctly.
"Even new developments such as RFID and 'radio barcodes' are useless if the original information is inaccurate.
All it takes is a single mistake to cause a wrong delivery or product recall - and even if the error is picked up in time, the shipment may be late or short." Claricom will be demonstrating how its software reduces the scope for operator error by creating a centralised environment where the input and transfer of all data is carefully controlled to bypass superfluous manual entry and avoid potential mismatches between primary and secondary packaging.
The company will also show how the principle of PCMS, already proven to remove the risk of errors in human readable and barcode data, can be extended to incorporate RFID technology.
Due to Claricom's generic coder-independent interface, the software can be used to connect to leading makes and models of printer, coder or barcode reading and RFID equipment, allowing manufacturers to select the most suitable equipment for the different parts of their operations.
