Network control demonstrated for all coders
The benefits of an independent approach to coding solutions were demonstrated at Pack Expo in Chicago, by network control on all types of coders from continuous ink jet to thermal transfer types.
"Coding accuracy is essential for traceability and for customer confidence.
The Claricom PCMS is proven to remove the human error that is otherwise inevitable; to reduce costs and, importantly, remove the unquantifiable risk of lost business," explained Jens Moibaek, technical supervisor at the Thise Mejeri Amba dairy in Denmark.
A key feature of the Claricom system is that it provides a unique and patented coder independent approach that allows manufacturers to combine different makes, models and technologies of coding and labelling equipment in to a single controlled solution.

Malicious Product Damage Avoided By Coding Systems
A high-profile product recall caused by a sabotaged food label has highlighted the need for manufacturers to ensure better control of their labelling practices.
As Stef Cuffaro, managing director at Kinglea Plants explained, "Claricom's independence and the ability of their products to work with all leading makes and models of coding and labelling equipment will allow us to continue buying the most appropriate coding equipment for each application." The suite of software from Claricom allows flexible and scalable solutions; these solutions are reliable because they are all based on proven and standard modules, from a simple stand-alone CLARiSOFT message editors to a complete CLARiNET network solution, ERP integration and integrated packaging validation.
For example, at Kinglea Plants, over 2,500 different labels are required.
The Claricom system provides a fully automatic link between Kinglea's sales order processing system and its on-line print and apply labellers to enable accurate information, specific to each order, to be transferred direct to the printers.
Claricom products are in use in a wide range of Food (Fresh and Frozen), Beverage, Pharamceutical and Manufacturing applications; users include Dairy Crest, Danone, Greencore, PepsiCo, UB and many more.
"Claricom are recognized in the industry with having a comprehensive understanding of coding technology and software that more than meets the requirements of the end user," explained Alan Cooper of Open Date.
"We are very happy that the Thermocode 2 has been added to the wide range of coding and labelling equipment supported by the Claricom suite of PCMS software." Open Date has been manufacturing a wide range of high quality coding and overprinting machines for over 30 years and claims that the Open Date Thermocode 2 range of thermal transfer printers is one of the largest ranges of any on the market today, with print areas ranging from 53mm x 30mm for the Thermocde 53E up to a print area of 107mm x 160mm for the Thermocode 107L.
