A three-day open house staged by Colchester's Midlands distributor Datamach of Coventry to celebrate its 21st Anniversary drew orders worth GBP 250,000 for Tornado and Combi machines.

These machines resulted in further immediate orders and follow up sales predicted within the next few weeks which were expected to exceed GBP 400,000.
Says Roger Lawrence, managing director: "There were quite a few companies keen to make decisions on purchase and wanting quick deliveries.
This confirms sectors of manufacturing are busy and new contracts are being placed on subcontractors." The Colchester sales include three of the latest Tornado 220 machines, a K2 Combi lathe and a Tornado 90 two-axis lathe with bar feed.
Harrison orders included Alpha 400T and the latest 330T lathes, while an Okamoto surface grinder and Fanuc Robodrill machining centre were reserved with the orders predicted within the next two weeks.
