Clare releases the Elite E9024V tester

A Clare Instruments product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 22, 2008

Clare Instruments has developed a bespoke solution for emergency lighting companies requiring extensive electrical safety testing and automation.

Clare's test enclosures and the Elite E9024V tester have been linked with an integration test module, enabling companies to safely undertake tests on an item without the rewiring required to carry out further checking and testing.

The application-specific system has a magnetic lock and optical sensors to check the activation/battery ready LED has been activated.

The emergency lighting sector is closely regulated and most luminaries generally fall in the scope of the Low Voltage Directive.

There is therefore a statutory requirement that manufacturers declare compliance with essential health and safety requirements and that their products carry the CE mark.

The Elite E9024V can undertake 11 tests, including AC/DC flash/HiPot, DC insulation resistance, earth/ground bond and load leakage.

It can test product safety in accordance with most international safety standards and approvals-agency recommendations, such as IEC, UL, CSA, VDE, EN, BEAB and BABT.

Using the PC software, traceable test results can be stored and SPC type analysis can be undertaken on the measured data.

The Elite E9024V incorporates a test capability where the function output test voltage can be varied from 10 to supply and the Elite 9024 model can raise the function test output higher than the supply (up to 280V).

The Elite has been designed for future proofing and incorporates imaging of a simple PLC controller that can control up to eight external I/O devices, reading inputs and making analogue sensor measurements.

The enclosures meet guidelines laid down by the HSE in its document INDG354 - Safety in Electrical Testing at Working (which closely follows the EN50191 standard).
