CMM readily integrates into machining cells
CMM can be automated using robots, enabling it to be loaded and unloaded from three sides, thereby increasing the integration possibilities in interlinked production systems.
The offering sees the introduction of a subcontract measurement service through Zeiss and its business solution partners' facilities in the UK.
In addition, the company now also offers a retrofit service, incorporating a series of interfaces allowing the installation of its industry leading software on to non-Zeiss CMMs and other measuring equipment.
The new subcontract measurement service offers customers the advantage of outsourcing metrology/quality department processes for those times when one-off, sporadic demand or greater levels of precise measurement cannot be delivered by in-house equipment.
The subcontract service is delivered to provide a 'breakdown' response reacting to industry requirements across the UK.
In contrast, the retrofit service interfaces, CALYPSO and HOLOS CAD-based measuring software products have increasingly become the choice for companies looking to standardise on CMM software across their operations.
And now owners of older or non-Zeiss CMMs can talk to specialist Zeiss engineers about what the retrofit service can offer them, and how they can start benefiting from object orientated structure, powerful CAD capabilities and visible metrology approach - all unique strengths of CALYPSO.
Andrew Thompson, divisional manager of Carl Zeiss, said: "We are looking forward to explaining the virtues of our new portfolio to visitors of Midlands Manufacturing 2006, and how the application of Zeiss' expertise in industrial metrology can provide flexible solutions to the varying needs of the industry.".
