Carl Zeiss presents scanning measuring machine

A Carl Zeiss, Metrology Division product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 24, 2008

Carl Zeiss has launched the Duramax 3D coordinate measuring machine to bring scanning to small workshops.

Duramax is suitable for process control on the production floor, for quick in-between inspection of small workpieces and for testing volume parts directly in production.

It replaces traditional measuring equipment such as height gauges, ring gauges, snap gauges, plug gauges, form measuring machines, workshop measuring equipment and manual measuring machines.

It meets the needs of dimensional measuring technology users and its low total price offers customers affordable access to Zeiss scanning.

Its ease of use makes it suitable for a replacement tool.

If modifications are made to the product to be tested, standard inspection procedures often require new, expensive gauges.

Duramax is a CNC all-rounder that, when combined with CAD-based Calypso measuring software, quickly, easily and reproducibly measures all changes.

Scanning is a standard feature of Duramax, but it also offers single-point probing.

Whether gaps, angles or diameters, roundness or straightness, borehole patterns or curves - it can be used for practically all measuring tasks.

Duramax withstands rough environments and demonstrates its high stability over a broad temperature range.

While measuring, the passive vibration damping offers protection against mechanical vibrations from production.

An additional benefit is the compact design of Duramax.

If needed, it can be quickly moved to a different location within the facility - only a forklift is needed.

Once connected to a power source it is immediately ready for action.
