Chinese machine tool exhibition doubles

The next Chinese machine tool and tooling exhibition - CIMES 2008 - will be larger and will offer over 1500 exhibitors some 150,000m2 of exhibition space for an expected 200,000 visitors.

Approved by the Ministry of Commerce of China, CIMES and CMTF (China International Machinery and Equipment Show and China Machine Tool and Tools Commodities Fair) has been renamed to CIMES (China International Machine Tool and Tools Exhibition) CIMES2008 will be held at the China International Exhibition Center (CIEC and New CIEC), Beijing, on October 9-13, 2008

The entire range of products and services for the metalworking technology will be on display with special emphasis on metal cutting machinery, forming machinery, mould processing machinery and much more.

* Success of CIMES and CMTF - believed to be the most important trade fair for the Asian machine tool industry, CIMES has, since 1992, achieved great success through all eight previous events in Beijing.

CIMES and CMTF has become the most influential and biggest market platform for machine tool and tools in Asia and enjoys extensive attention from professionals all over the world.

CIMES 2006 had 1,020 exhibitors (354 from abroad) from 25 countries, including China, USA, Germany, Italy, the UK, France, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Spain and the Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Spanning over 75,000m2 of exhibition space, CIMES 2006 attracted more than 159,000 visitors from 58 countries and regions, and recorded total transaction value of RMB 1.69 billion.

* Chinese machine tool consumption - according to the statistics, China has ranked the highest in machine tool consumption and the imports since 2002.

In 2006, the consumption of machine tools was US$12.94 billion, and the import was US$7.243 billion - representing 55% of China's total machine tool consumption.

It is predicted that China will invest RMB 2 trillion on its transportation facilities, machinery and equipment and special machinery during the next five years.

It is forecast that the Chinese machinery market will achieve a sustained and steady growth over the next few years, exceeding UD$13.5 billion in 2007, and will be close to US$18 billion in 2008, and will continue to import some 60% of its needs.

CIMES 2008 is in the medium-term of China's Eleventh Five-Year Plan.

Taking the advantage of time and the excellent market change in China, CIMES 2008, is expected to host more than 200,000 trade visitors, and cover a total exhibition space of more than 150,000m2.

CIMES 2008 will provide the best marketing platform to show new products and technology, to enhance companies' corporate image and to meet more business partners in China.

Almost 99% of the exhibitors of CIMES 2006 will participate and enlarge their space in CIMES 2008, according to the on-site pre-registration during CIMES 2006.

Furthermore, some machine tools producers who did not get the space in CIMES 2006 are very anxious to send their application forms for CIMES 2008 to the organizer earlier.

CIMES2008 aims to offer the most exciting trading platform in China in 2008 and an aggressive promotion campaign will be aimed at key visitors.

* Key national project purchasing groups - the enterprises in charge of key national projects, technical renovation projects, very important equipment projects and large machinery end-users will be invited to CIMES 2008 through the support of authorities and associations.

* 10 big buyer-groups - more than ten big buyer-groups will be organized from industries including aerospace, shipbuilding, defense, railroad, electrical power, telecommunications, metallurgy, chemistry, textiles and printing.

* 10 automotive manufacturers - over ten automobile manufacturers in China will be invited to visit CIMES 2008, including Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Daewoo, Chang'an and Shanghai Automotive.

* End-users of manufacturing industry in China - CIMES 2008 brings together end-users from a wide array of fields including machine tools, automobiles, aviation and aerospace, shipbuilding, national defense, transportation, petroleum and energy, electrical power, industry electronics, railroads and locomotives, manufacturing, agriculture, textiles, distribution and import and export trading, etc.

* Overseas buyers - through the cooperation with Reed, and global manufacturing events like METALEX and Australia National Manufacturing Week, as well as from our own database, CIMES will attrract thousands of buyers from Asian countries and other regions.
