Custom balancing expanded with new machines
Command Tooling Systems has announced the expansion of its tooling and holemaking balance products including expanded custom balancing.
Tooling for boring and keyways cut changeover time
Three tool products - a modular boring system, right angle heads and keyway cutter - eliminate secondary operations, slash floor-to-floor times and speed machine changeovers.
"Proper balance for a specific application is essential".
"It increases tool and spindle life, while enhancing productivity with less scrap and an improved surface finish".
An established level of balance is standard on Command's toolholders before they are shipped from the plant.

Shrink-fit toolholders and boring heads extended
Additions have been made to a shrink-fit toolholder line and a range of balancable boring heads to greatly enhance productivity and reduce cycle times at high speeds.
Five tooling developments up productivity
Five developments for drilling and boring holes in fewer passes, with chamfers, at faster feed rates, for a greater size range and on more machines, have been introduced.
Standard balance levels vary depending on the toolholder and range from G2.5 at 15,000 rpm to G6.3 at 24,000 rpm.
Custom balance is also available and done at the factory utilising Command's Engineering and Manufacturing balance experts.
Balance can be customised to achieve even the most rigorous customer requirements.
"Command has over 20 years of toolholder balance experience along with state-of-the art equipment," King stated.
Command now offers five balancing machines featuring a user-friendly interface with a simple on-screen menu.
Model options range from one or two-plane measurements, balancing software, and the capability of an integrated PC for tool storage and measurement readouts for up to 5,000 tools.
Command's extensive offering of balance rings work in conjunction with standard toolholders and the balancing machines.
This provides customers the ability to perform custom balancing on their own premises.
The balance ring system offers unbalance correction from 17 g-mm to 126 g-mm.
Ring Inner Diameter (ID) range from 0.63" (16mm) to 4.88" (124mm).
High-speed holemaking relies on balance to achieve a smooth surface finish without vibration.
"Holemaking relies on balanced boring tools to achieve the perfect bore, with minimum scrap and improved surface finish," stated Brian Schied, Urma Product Manager.
MicroMax and VersaMax balanceable boring systems offer a simple, accurate balancing solution.
Each provide maximum rigidity with minimal run-out, for vibration-free boring at speeds up to 20,000 rpm.
Both models are integrated with an adjustable balance ring and a bore diameter dial adjustable for 0.0001" graduations and 0.0002" accuracy directly off the dial.
Simple, accurate and vibration-free holemaking along with an improved surface finish is the result with MicroMax and VersaMax adjustable boring systems.
