The new 55 AC brushless permanent magnet servo motor range from Control Techniques Dynamics responds to the demands for a low cost compact motor offering dynamic performance and positioning accuracy.

The new 55 AC brushless permanent magnet servo motor range from Control Techniques Dynamics responds to the demands for a low cost compact motor offering dynamic performance and positioning accuracy The frameless three phase motor has a cross section of just 55 x 55mm, with three lengths of 106mm for 0.65Nm; 136mm for 1.1Nm and 166mm for 1.4Nm

This gives a high torque per volume ratio - ideal for today's compact machinery.

A vacuum impregnated stator assembly gives improved thermal performance and increased torque.

The 55 range of motors is the first from CT Dynamics to incorporate this new technology.

Suitable for both sinusoidal and trapezoidal drives, the 55 motor range has voltage versions to match new Drives from Control Techniques.

Low cogging is provided by the 8 pole fractional slot design, whilst a high torque/inertia ratio ensues from the low inertia rotor and Neodymium magnets.

The combination of this and a 4 x stall peak torque gives exhilarating acceleration.

High resolution feedback not normally offered in motors of this small size is provided as standard by a 2048ppr optical encoder that can cope with the 6,000rpm maximum speed.

Nominal winding designs for speeds of 3,000rpm or 5,000rpm gives the system designer scope to best suit this application.

A built-in brake is also available within the totally enclosed motor frame.

The motor conforms to IEC dimensions, is CE marked and will soon have UL approval.

Applications benefiting from the new 55 range will include material handling conveyors, automatic assembly machines, textile machines, robots, medical equipment, X-Y Assemblies, small machine tools and winders and unwinders.

It will be of particular benefit to the packaging and printing industries where the motor is particularly suitable for small packaging functions and printing machines.

As with its Unimotor range of brushless AC motors, the 55 range is inherently reliable requiring no preventive maintenance.

Available as complete plug and play solution, it can be provided with feedback devices, connectors, cable assemblies (for power and signal to reduce installation time) and low backlash gearboxes for increased power.
