ID readers check codes with marking
standards too
As well as being able to read direct part marked codes, latest ID readers are also able to verify the marking quality to ensure that the codes comply with various marking standards.

Cognex says that Wieland-Werke AG, one of the world's largest copper strip manufacturers, has integrated Cognex's SmartView ICN web inspection system on its copper pickling line in Germany.
The introduction of this new product range marks a critical step for Cognex, in helping to consolidate the company's commanding position in the ID market.
Earlier this year, Cognex set up a new business division to focus specifically on the ID market.
The primary focus of this division is to supply products to read and verify Data MatrixT codes on Direct Part Marked components.

The new range of hand-held and fixed-mount readers uses innovative Cognex technology to deliver new standards in decoding reliability.
Direct Part Marking is used extensively in the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical and Electronics industries to allow components to be identified and tracked during production.
It also allows parts to be identified later in their lifecycle when maintenance or replacement is required.
Parts are usually marked using Dot Peen, Laser, Chemical etch or Ink-jet technologies.
A wide range of materials including metals, plastics, glass and ceramics can be marked in this way.
The ID readers being introduced by Cognex are able to read these Direct Part Marked codes; they are also able to verify the marking quality to ensure that the codes comply with various marking standards.
The new product range includes 2 hand-held readers, one for reading laser and ink-jet marks, the other for reading dot peen and chemical etch marked codes.
Also being introduced are 2 new high-speed fixed-mount reader products.
The first of these provides unprecedented levels of real-time 1D and 2D code reading performance and is able to read codes produced by the full range of Direct Part Mark techniques.
In addition to these capabilities, the second fixed mount reader system is fitted with special tools to perform detailed Data MatrixT mark quality analysis demanded by the Aerospace industry.
The key feature of all these products is that they deliver the most robust and reliable Direct Part Mark code reading available anywhere.
To achieve this, Cognex has developed a new Data MatrixT reading technology called IDMaxT based on techniques patented by the company.
Reliable code reading is essential for part tracking in a wide range of production, assembly, test and logistics operations.
"Up until now, manufacturers haven't had access to products that combine the level of performance, ease of use, and choice of form factor that Cognex now provides," said Eric Ceyrolle, President of International Operations at Cognex. Request a free brochure from Cognex UK ...
"These new hand-held and fixed-mount readers enable manufacturers to move forward on part traceability projects with confidence that they will read reliably and quickly, every time.".
