Claro Precision Engineering has just opened a new production unit at its site in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, in time to take delivery of a new CNC machining centre offering increased manufacturing capacity.
The Hardinge Bridgeport 1500XP3HP has 4th axis and probing capability will increase the envelope of production to 1500x660x610mm and increase the total machining capacity of the company.
Currently employing 50 people, Claro is a UK leader in the manufacture of a wide range of machined components used in the medical, aerospace, instrumentation, defence and microwave sectors.
Now the GBP 300,000 investment in additional workspace and equipment will enable the company to undertake more contracts and larger work with the possibility of further new jobs being created.
Managing director, Martin Doxey, said: "Investing in this type of new equipment and production unit means we can accommodate the needs of both existing and new customers, which is vital for sustained business growth.
We will continue to make investments to meet the needs of our customers, and already have plans underway for future investment.
In parallel with investment in machine capacity, we are extending the scope of services we offer to include more vendor managed inventory and kan ban services for low to medium volume OEMs." The latest investment is part of the company's ongoing growth strategy and follows the purchase last year of equipment worth GBP 250,000, which allowed the company to offer an increased range of services and attract new business.
