Claro Provides Vital Component In
Medical Surgery
A world class engineering company in North Yorkshire is providing vital components being used in complex medical surgery to bring a better quality of life to thousands.
Claro, winner of this year's prestigious GTMA World Class Award for manufacturing, has most recently provided a vital component used in the new MK4 electric hand produced by specialist Leeds manufacturer RSL Steeper ''We were asked by RSL to supply a thumb trunion - a small but vital component if the hand is to function effectively,'' said Claro's sales director Mike Lewis

Precision machined parts business expands
Precision machined parts specialist Claro Precision Engineering, which is celebrating 25 years of success, and looks forward to continuing expansion, passing the GBP 5 million mark in 2008.
Brent Pickles, operations manager at RSL Steeper's manufacturing facility in Leeds said Claro had been involved in the work from the prototype stage through to the finished product.
Mr Pickles commented: "These are high-precision, high quality instruments, with parts made to high tolerance levels, as they have to be a reliable replacement for adult and children's hands.
This level of quality is what we get with Claro." Claro has also been involved in essential work for a number of other specialist UK companies manufacturing components used in knee, hip and shoulder surgery.
It even produces components for critical heart valve surgery as well as surgical instrument components.
Mr Lewis commented: "At Claro we have a proven track record in producing excellent quality precision products, and this is backed up by an ISO 9000/2000 quality system.
As well as the type of component produced for RSL we also manufacture and refurbish arthroscopic tools and produce a wide range of implants and instruments for use in surgery." Claro managing director Howard Chadwick says: "We are very aware of the complex needs of the medical industry, and certainly have the capability and level of expertise needed to produce high quality precision components for medical and many other demanding industries.
