Benchtop inspection system is for very small parts
An 'ultra simple', highly precise, benchtop AOI inspection system can inspect extremely small components, yet the system is small enough to fit any where in the production process.
Eight stencil printers purchased
Kostal Ireland has purchased eight MPM UP3000 UltraFlex stencil printers from Ireland-based Contax Production Automation and have been installed at Kostal's two plants.
Both systems offer the highest levels of accuracy, flexibility and performance.
The GX-11S provides an excellent cost per placement across the range of components, whilst the AC-30L is engineered for application flexibility with good throughput.
Long-term reliability is a given for both platforms.

Genesis GX-11S The Genesis GX-11S in its basic form is a pick and place system based on a single beam which still offers the scalable, modular, performance associated with the Genesis range.
It is ideally suited to production environments producing volumes that demand flexible high performance.
A highly accurate system, it has a broad component handling range from 0603mm (0201) to 55 mm (2.165 inches) square.
Built on a solid welded steel plate frame precision machined to within 1 micron across corners, the Genisis range can be configured with a single, dual or quad-gantry positioning system each driven by Universal's patented linear motors, using VRM technology.
This offers a combination of high accuracy and positional repeatability with high speed component placement.
A selection of Multi-spindle heads can be located on the beam(s), picking components from the various feeder locations, with seven and four spindle inline head configurations along with the proven market leading 30 position lightening head.
GX-11S has been developed to be a configurable advanced, fast, accurate, yet flexible placement platform with multiple options to enable the precise configuration to be achieved to meet the exact production requirement.
AdVantis AC-30L The AC-30L, is a flexible system combining the value driven performance of the AdVantis range with Universal's highly acclaimed Lightning head.
This features a radial array of 30 modular, individually controlled spindles, offering outstanding levels of throughput with placement rates of up to 33,600 cph.
The AC-30L uses an overhead gantry positioning system.
Its single X-axis beam is powered from both ends using dual Y-axis drive motors.
This dual-drive configuration allows for high acceleration and reduces settle times therefore resulting in higher throughput rates when compaired with singular-drive and most other dual-drive systems.
The AC-30L can handle the widest range of components including 0201 chips and larger, fine pitch components (QFPs, PLCCs), area array (flip chip, BGA, CCGA) connectors upto 150mm in length and odd form components.
Other features include two head mounted cameras equipped with front, side and on-axis lighting to image components on the fly, a standard complement of 140 interchangeable nozzles, two high capacity nozzle changers, and a standard Pattern Error Correction (PEC) downward looking camera.
"Both these systems offer superb functionality and long-term reliability, for many different applications," explained Mike Rapson, Managing Director at Contax .
"The newest Genesis GX-11S offers excellent performance for manufacturers of volume products with complex components, whilst the AC-30L provides proven application flexibility and superb speed, thanks to Universal's exceptional Lightning head," he said.
