Andrew Mepham, chief technical Officer of RFTRAQ said, "This equipment will augment our existing production capabilities and capacity, and will give us state-of-the-art quality control and assurance for our technology hardware".
He continued, "The rationale for in-house production of our own Active RFID tags and readers stems from the need to be in total charge of quality control and assurance.
It will give us the flexibility to respond quickly to client orders and requirements, and also to accelerate our in house R and D programme".
Mepham added: "Contax have had to endure a long and hard due diligence process as part of our equipment selection, and I am delighted by the partnership we have built with them in the process".
** About the equipment purchased.
* MPM AccuFlex stencil printer - is the only system available to offer proven automatic alignment and tooling.
The system automatically inspects the solder paste deposits, so in the event of failure the operator has the option of continuing or correcting the problem.
* Essemtec FLX2010 SMD pick and place machine - offers the most flexible placement technology for high mix production.
The system is modular and fully upgradeable, and offers 190 feeders ranging from 0201 down to 0.12in, MicroBGA and Flip Chips.
There is zero downtime during changeover, and the FLX2010 offers a placement rate of 5'000 components/h.
* Essemtec R0400FC - is a full convection reflow oven designed for high temperature soldering of sensitive electronics.
The convection technology uses vertical laminar flow, which offers efficient heat transfer and the lowest delta T values, so ensuring that the oven is ideally suited to lead free applications.
* The Omron VT-RNS-ptH - is the first benchtop system available to offer true analysis rather than pattern recognition as the basis for its inspection.
Using the same technology as the larger VT-RNS, the system is available in a compact footprint, so ensuring that it is ideally suited to a production environment with limited space.
* Solderstar's Thermal Profiling Systems - now available from Contax, these systems ensure that correct process settings are established and maintained, so ensuring optimum quality control.
