PCB stencil printer has high accuracy
A PCB stencil printer can handle a wide range of board sizes and has a cycle time of up to 10s (excluding print) with accuracy and repeatability of +/-12.5 micron at 6 sigma.
Production automation system specialist, Contax, has released its Speedline MPM Momentum stencil printer Aimed at the mid-market, the Momentum, said Contax to manufacturingtalk, offers superb performance in a cost effective package, employing the latest technology used in MPM's award-winning Accela printer

Vapour phase soldering has profile control
Vapour phase soldering machines use advanced temperature profile control software that enables the machine to run complex profiles automatically.
An ultimately flexible system, the Momentum can handle a wide range of board sizes from 609mm x 508mm to 50.8mm x 50.8mm (24in x 20in to 2in x 2in).
It has a cycle time of up to 10s (excluding print) with accuracy and repeatability of +/-12.5 micron at 6 sigma (Cpk greater than or equal to 2.0).
The Momentum features the latest vision technology, including a high speed USB digital camera.

Benchtop presses improve cable crimping
Benchtop presses feature very short set-up and cycle times and ease of use for improving the quality manual crimping of contacts on to wires and cables.
The camera has the following features.
* Patented look up/look down capability.
* Telecentric lens.
* Advanced lighting techniques for strong performance in both alignment and post-print inspection.
* Expanded inspection capabilities, such as contrast-based 2D, BridgeVision and StencilVision, all with SpeedVision, are also available.
The system also offers enhanced reliability and uptime.
The Momentum uses new, patent-pending, transport and squeegee systems along with a vacuum stencil wiper and patented roller solvent bar delivery system.
Benchmark software governs machine operation and the Momentum uses a standard Microsoft Windows-based system with a graphical user interface common to all new MPM printers.
Intuitive software ensures that operator training, set-up and changeover times are all minimised.
Typically, a new product file can be created in under 10 min, and any existing process program can be used as a template for new files.
* Easily networked - the Momentum can be easily networked and has wizards for error recovery, machine functions and utilities along with a 'never lost' sequence with Start button instructions.
The system also employs CANopen motion control and I/O architecture for excellent signal communication and rapid motion with minimal wires and cables.
"The Momentum is an exceptional system," said Mike Rapson, managing director of Contax.
"It offers many of the features of the award-winning Accela, but in a smaller, more cost effective, package.
MPM has a strong reputation for providing reliable, performance-led systems, and this printer has all the qualities you would expect from a sophisticated MPM machine.
We believe that the Momentum will be particularly successful with UK-based CEMs and OEMs".
* About Contax - Contax is one of the UK and Ireland's most comprehensive suppliers of automation equipment.
Products range from PCB assembly, automatic optical and X-ray inspection, reflow solder, screen printing, precision liquid dispensing, cable preparation, robotic soldering and robotic assembly as well as cleaning systems.
All of this is backed up by Contax's after sales operation and an extensive second user department to fully support their installed base.
