Crowcon is announcing a portable multi-gas detector to combat the problems of flammable gas monitoring in demanding offshore and petrochemical environments Joining the top-selling Triple Plus range of instruments, Triple Plus+ IR combines user-selected sensors for a range of specific gas hazards with a durable infrared (IR) sensor for flammable hydrocarbons

High temperature gas detector is ATEX certified
An ATEX certified gas detector is designed to quickly detect flammable gases in high temperature applications (up to 150 deg C) such as gas turbines, gas-fired drying ovens or coating processes.
SS bodied gas sensor resists chemicals
Stainless steel bodied, fixed-point gas sensor operates in chemically aggressive atmospheres including plastics, rubber, food and pharmaceutical production and metal processing.
Unlike other devices for flammable gas measurement, the infrared sensor is unaffected by exposure to 'poisoning' compounds such as silicones, or to extreme hydrocarbon levels.
Infrared detection also differs from traditional methods because it does not require the presence of oxygen.
Consequently, as well as personal protection in regular working environments, Crowcon's instrument is suitable for purge monitoring: when tanks which have held flammable liquids are purged with nitrogen, Triple Plus+ IR can monitor falling hydrocarbon levels from inside and indicate when it is safe to open the vessel to air.
Three options for flammable gas sensing are available: a unit measuring 0-100 per cent of the lower explosive limit (LEL) is suitable for general protection; a high-level version measuring gas volume from 0-100 per cent is designed for specialist applications like purge monitoring; and for maximum flexibility, both sensor ranges can be incorporated into one unit.
For simultaneous monitoring of other gases such as oxygen, hydrogen sulphide and carbon monoxide, up to three additional sensors can be specified (two for units with dual-range flammable gas monitoring).
Like all instruments in the Triple Plus range, Triple Plus+ IR is designed to withstand extreme physical conditions.
Shock-resistant and sealed to IP65, it has a casing moulded from shatterproof Triax.
Unusually it also floats, making it easy to recover an instrument that has been dropped in the water. Request a free brochure from Crowcon Detection Instruments ...
