Crowcon has extended its Xgard fixed-point gas detector range with a new stainless steel bodied sensor which provides exceptional corrosion resistance in extreme industrial environments.

Designed for operation in chemically aggressive atmospheres, the new Xgard SS is suitable for gas hazard detection in petrochemical, plastic, rubber, food and pharmaceutical production, water and sewage treatment, metal processing, power generation and marine environments.

Although this enclosure is manufactured to a high specification using 316 stainless steel castings, it does not carry a high price premium.

The new enclosure accepts a comprehensive range of sensors for monitoring routinely encountered flammable and toxic gases and oxygen.

Poison-resistant pellistor sensors will detect flammable hydrocarbons, hydrogen, ammonia and jet fuel vapours.

Electrochemical sensors cover all common toxic gases, and thermal conductivity sensors will deliver volumetric concentration readings of gases like methane and CO2.

UL and ATEX certified versions are available for use in potentially explosive atmospheres using either Exd flameproof or Exia intrinsically safe protection concepts.

Special high temperature flammable gas versions will operate at up to 150 degrees C.

Waterproofing accessories provide extra ingress protection to IP66 for outdoor use and protection against washdown or exceptionally wet conditions.

To minimise operating costs, and simplify installation and replacement, quick-fit plug-in sensor modules are used.

These detectors can be wall, ceiling or duct mounted and set up for remote sampling.
