Subcon builds business for gear making
Mini Gears pecialises in the manufacture of all kinds of gears and racks and is currently expanding its ground gears section for high-speed applications.
This year saw Subcon's first ever outing as an annual event and the response underlined the market's desire for an international showcase of the world's best subcontractors in one dedicated event.
As an event in its own right the scope of the show now extends well beyond the traditional areas of machining and metal forming to cover all aspects of subcontract manufacture - including areas such as electrical and electronic assembly, design and development, surface engineering, plastic moulding, casting, forging and rapid prototyping.
Subcon's move to an annual cycle attracted many new exhibitors, many of whom decided to rebook on site for the 2006 show.

Subcontracting topic papers called for
The UK Subcon 2005 conference entitled 'Sourcing and subcontracting in global markets - survival strategies for buyers and suppliers' will be held alongside the Subcon exhibition.
As a result, premium stand sites at the show are already in short supply.
One new exhibitor who was totally convinced of Subcon's worth was Chris Carter, managing director of Barker Collins - he was so impressed that he re-booked on the spot.
"It was absolutely superb," said Carter.
"It far surpassed any expectations I had had.
People we have been cold calling for three years with no response came up to see us on the stand." Another happy exhibitor is Chris Laycock, sales director of international sourcing specialist, CCP.
He has already had enquiries worth over GBP 20 million as a direct result of exhibiting.
Subcon 2006 has also attracted the support of many of the leading organisations in the subcontracting world, including the West Midlands automotive initiative - Accelerate, FI Information and key trade associations such as The Confederation of British Metalforming and the Surface Engineering Association.
Accelerate project manager Rob Lott said, "We are delighted to be supporting the Subcon exhibition again; it has proven to be an extremely valuable event for West Midlands SMEs.
It allows them to them build business in the UK and reach out to wider global markets." FI Information, formerly known as First Index, is the world's leading online marketplace for buyers and suppliers of custom-manufactured components and assemblies and a long-term believer in the power of Subcon to create business.
FI Information's managing director Hans Wigart said, "Subcon 2005 was absolutely fantastic.
The quality of the buyers was very high and they were well prepared - they came to the show with drawings and specifications for orders they wanted to place.
The range of services they were looking for was quite broad too - not just machining and forming, but also plastics, electronics and complete assemblies.
They want more added value from their suppliers and Subcon is the place to go for that where they can meet suppliers face to face and discuss their requirements." Unlike many UK trade shows, Subcon is truly international - with visitors and exhibitors coming to the show from all over the world.
As well as individual companies from Europe and Asia, regional and national stands have been booked from France, Italy - including nine companies from the Brescia Chamber of Commerce - Taiwan, Latvia and the Czech Republic.
As event director Jon Hughes explained: " Subcontracting is a fast-changing global market and buyers need to constantly update their knowledge of what is available on the market.
As the UK's only dedicated subcontracting event, and the only event with a regional, national and international reach, Subcon is the place where buyers come to find new suppliers and talk to them face-to-face.
If they do not already know you this could be your only chance to tell them what you can do." Subcon 2006 will take place alongside MACH, Drives and Controls, Electrex and Airtech, Environmental Technology and Solid Modelling exhibitions.
