Subcon 2006 exhibition will host a specially commissioned free seminar programme aimed to provide high-powered insights into sourcing that will give delegates valuable practical knowledge.

Following their highly popular introduction at last year's event, Subcon 2006 is again hosting a specially commissioned free seminar programme The sessions aim to provide high-powered insights into sourcing that will give delegates valuable practical knowledge they can apply in their businesses

Subcon runs from 16 to 18 May in hall 3A at the NEC, Birmingham, UK, and each day there will be three free seminar sessions with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The sessions will last around 45 to 50 minutes and can be booked individually.

Each day there will be a presentation on world class supply chain best practice from a senior executive in a leading manufacturing company, a session on strategic issues, and a session on global sourcing.

Leading off with the keynote presentation on the 16th May will be John Fitchett, purchasing director New Product Introduction and Customer Interface at Rolls-Royce.

Fitchett will be looking at creating world class supply chains for new product introductions and comparing the different approaches taken for the Trent 1000 and Joint Strike Fighter engines.

Speaking in the same slot on Wednesday 17th May will be Paul Hennessey, Divisional Purchasing Manager with JCB.

Strategy themes that will be addressed over the three days include a presentation from Leigh Holloway of Envirowise that asks the question: "Is your supply chain sustainable?" This is an area of growing concern as environmental legislation such as the WEEE Directive and ROHS regulations means buyers need to know exactly what is going into their products.

Further strategy presentations include a session on lean thinking in the supply chain by Chris McKellen of Manufacturing Awareness and an overview of the sources of support available for supply chain development from Lucy Prinsep of Accelerate.

Finally, the global sourcing sessions focus on China, India, and in a presentation by John McFadzean, head of Unido ITPO UK, the untapped potential of sourcing from developing nations.

Online booking for the sessions opens in mid-March on line .

Visitors can also pre-register for their show tickets on the site.

Subcon 2006 takes place alongside the MACH, Drives and Controls, Electrex and Airtech, Environmental Technology, Product Development and NEEDS exhibitions at the NEC, Birmingham, UK. Request free introductory details about products from Subcon ...
