Subcon builds business for gear making
Mini Gears pecialises in the manufacture of all kinds of gears and racks and is currently expanding its ground gears section for high-speed applications.
This 'Integrated Engineering Services' approach offers customers cost-effective, competitive sourcing without having to go to tender.
As the Forum's business development manager Robert Leech explains, the group was originally set up to address local skills shortages but its role has evolved a long way from that initial concept.
"Tier one companies are looking to have fewer suppliers - and if one of those suppliers can be a collaborative grouping they can get a range of services from a single point.
Enquiries come direct to the Forum and we act as facilitators for our members.
We carry out an internal tendering process and highlight one of our members as the lead organisation for the project.
They then cascade the work down through the other members depending on the capabilities required - but the customer only has to deal with one supplier," he says.
This allows customers to use their in-house purchasing resources more efficiently and cuts down on administration costs - and because the companies are all situated within a 10 mile radius of the Forum's offices project management and logistics are also simplified.
Seventeen members of the Forum will be represented at the show Visitors to the stand can enter a prize draw to win one of Alan Shearer's Newcastle United FC's shirts signed by all the players. Request a free brochure from Subcon ...
