Company expands into bespoke pressings

Brunel, traditionally a producer of locks, hinges and handles, has decided to expand into markets that require bespoke pressings, zinc diecastings and composite assemblies.

Brunel (Stand F14) has traditionally produced locks, hinges and handles for the UK window and door manufacturing industry - turning over about GBP3m every year But as Managing Director Mike Smith explains, although this is still Brunel's core business it decided to expand its markets

"We looked at our strengths and concluded that the four high technology 100-200 tonne coil-fed automatic steel pressing lines, the substantial aluminium and steel track punching facility and the seven 20 -125 tonne automatic zinc pressure diecasting machines we have could be used to make components and assemblies outside of our key industry.

So here we are at Subcon".

Brunel's aims are to actively pursue new business in a variety of markets that require bespoke pressings, zinc diecastings and composite assemblies.

"We are presently seeing a lot of enquiries for both back up UK sourcing (for when Far Eastern supply goes wrong) and late stage manufacturing to tailor product once it has arrived from the Far East.

We are ideally placed to provide this ".Brunel is now in the process of achieving ISO9000.

We feel this will enable us to approach new markets.

As our structure is simple but effective, we know our cost base is as competitive as any company in the UK.

"Unlike most manufacturing companies, we see an exciting future where we can fit in to a globalised economy and be successful.

There is a lot that Brunel can offer.

UK manufacturing still has its uses - if it is able to be lean, quick, flexible and service-orientated". Request a free brochure from Subcon ...
