Subcon builds business for gear making
Mini Gears pecialises in the manufacture of all kinds of gears and racks and is currently expanding its ground gears section for high-speed applications.
Traditionally, joints in structural steelwork create considerable work in the fabrication shop, and usually involve multi handling of the work piece.
This not only adds cost, but also time; tying up expensive labour and involves careful planning to ensure efficient handling on the pieces.
The Laser Cutting Co can remove many of the problems associated with processing steel sections, leaving the fabricator to utilise labour more efficiently and effectively.

Subontracting show has machine tool zone
UK subcontract manufacturing exhibition will feature a complementary Machine Tool Zone to give machine tool companies the chance to reach a wide range of high-level buyers.
Having installed a 3 D Fabrigear 300 laser cutting machine, The Laser Cutting Co now offers a complete cutting service for sections and tubes.
This machine, the only one of its type and capability in the UK, can process sections up to 300mm x 300mm in section, and up to 8000mm in length.
The Mazak cuts on 6 axes, allowing it to not only cut to length, but also to cut complex shapes, holes and slots along the length of the piece.
Furthermore and probably most important of all, the ends of the section can be cut for weld preparation.
This alone removes a time consuming operation in the fabrication shop, and adds a degree of accuracy which would otherwise be almost impossible to achieve.
Preparation of the ends of the work piece by laser cutting can guarantee a full bearing surface onto the adjacent section, thus efficiently transferring compressive loads.
This could avoid the use of full penetration butt welds creating obvious savings in both time and cost in the fabrication process.
The Laser Cutting Co offer the customer a full service and seek to consult with them to develop a project and determine the most cost efficient way of processing steel, to achieve overall savings.
By working together and by developing a partnership, the customer can be assured of accuracy, quality and service, whilst benefiting from the savings the process offers.
Key points offered by The Laser Cutting Co: * Re-configuration of joints by accurate cutting and end preparation.
