CD uses video clips to show in detail how multi-heads, angle heads, speeders and rotary coolant adapters are exchanged between the tool magazine and spindle in a machining centre.

Free on request from CTL-Centreline is a CD with video clips showing in detail how the company's multi-heads, angle heads, speeders and rotary coolant adapters are exchanged between the tool magazine and spindle in a machining centre Bridgeport, Cincinnati and XYZ kindly gave permission for their machines to be filmed for this purpose

Some potential users of this type of toolholder find it difficult to envisage how the head is orientated within the spindle, according to Centreline.

So the company produced the video disc to illustrate how the head is placed in a magazine pocket so that, when it indexes into the ATC position, a tapered pin on the side of the tool lies directly below a corresponding attachment mounted on the spindle head at a fixed distance from its centreline.

This pin centre distance and other parameters are made to suit the particular machining centre.

As the drive taper, be it 30, 40 or 50, is pulled into the spindle by the drawbar and clamped in the usual way, the vee pin locates simultaneously in the vee block to ensure accurate orientation of the head.

Centreline has also taken the opportunity of including full product data on the disc in PDF format, including its VDI static and driven tooling for lathes, in English, French and German.
