Zeiss Makes Fret Quick, Easy And Accurate
The last few years has witnessed a rapid increase in the use of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) microscopy in cell and developmental biology laboratories to provide spatial information.
The high speed FireWire interface simplifies connection to a PC or laptop and the single cable connection enables full, computer-controlled camera operation.
The high resolution and high speed also means that images can be obtained from moving samples, artefact-free.
Results can be reviewed immediately after image acquisition, allowing precise real-time adjustments to be made to the specimen.
"The combination of low price and absolute colour rendition answers the demands of many users for a simple but expandable imaging solution", says Aubrey Lambert, Aubrey Lambert, marketing manager at Carl Zeiss UK.
"The AxioCam MRc5 is ideally suited to light microscopy and other applications where colour contrasting techniques are used, such as polarisation microscopy of metal or rock sections and industrial inspection." The camera features Zeiss' new generation of CCD sensors.
Users can select the working resolution up to an ultra-high maximum of 5-megapixels.
36-bit RGB colour depth and 12-bit digitisation ensures loss-free image dynamics and guarantee maximum colour accuracy and image quality even when working with difficult specimens, such as reflecting surfaces in materials microscopy.
"The AxioCam MRc5 is an integral part of Zeiss' aim to offer complete imaging solutions that meet the needs of microscopists from all disciplines", states Lambert.
Carl Zeiss is an innovative technology leader in the fields of optics, precision engineering and electronic visualisation, setting new, pioneering standards in sophisticated technology for recognising, experiencing, measuring, analysing, structuring and processing a wide spectrum of objects.
