CAD Schroer Group's latest version of the integrated drafting and legacy data management solution for Pro/Engineer fills important gap

The impressive Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Centre was this year's venue for the largest PTC user conference ever, with record-breaking attendance of 1,944, where PTC European Software Partner of the Year 2005, CAD Schroer Group (CSG), demonstrated the latest release of Stheno/Pro, the legacy data management and drafting solution fully integrated with Pro/Engineer, Pro/INtralink and Windchill PDMLink "It's time for 2D in support of your Pro/E strategy", That's the message CAD Schroer sent out loud and clear to all those Pro/Engineer users struggling with a wealth of 2D legacy and supplier designs which must be managed and maintained separately from their Pro/E data

"We talked to a lot of PTC customers and VARs, who want an effective way to get the most out of existing 2D data - often in paper or legacy formats," says Don Terepka, Head of CAD Schroer US, the company's American subsidiary, which opened earlier this year.

"They were amazed to see that there is a system that integrates so seamlessly with Pro/Engineer, writing files in Pro/E format, yet easily handles AutoCAD and other 2D design data." Stheno/Pro replaces the need for a 3-tier (Pro/E - 2D - paper) apProach, working hand-in-glove with Pro/Detail, allowing for seamless, bi- directional data exchange, and the incorporation, editing and maintenance of raster data.

It allows for the quick and easy creation of things like 2D concepts, layouts and tender designs, as well as 2D adaptations of Pro/Detail sheets for Product designs, technical manuals, and installation designs.

Stheno/Pro also supports on-site mark-up of, and remote access to, designs.

"We showed off Stheno/Pro's advanced drafting tools, and visitors were really impressed to see the power and the ease with which the software can edit existing AutoCAD designs, augment Pro/Detail drawings, and manage the whole thing with Pro/INtralink or Windchill PDMLink, saving lots of design and data maintenance time," adds Alan Pitt, Technical Consultant at CSG Europe.

AutoCAD users, who may have missed the boat in Autodesk's upgrade campaign (support for the AutoCAD 2002 Product range ended in March 2006), enthusiastically greeted CSG's keen upgrade pricing for those making the switch: Stheno/Pro Plus, which is fully DXF/DWG compatible, multi-platform ready and customisable, was on offer for only $1150 as an upgrade option (a $3490 value!); Users of AutoCAD 2005 could pay as little as $425 to upgrade to Pro/E-integrated drafting.

Don, Alan, and Joep Brouwers, CSG's Channel Marketing Manager, were on-hand in Texas to answer questions, Provide Product demos, tips and advice, and hand out entry forms for the CSG iPod prize draw.

The prize went to Will Swank from CNH, who was thrilled to be selected.
