CSG showcases Pro/Engineer partner products

CAD Schroer Group (CSG) is known for providing products and services that bridge the gap between 2D and 3D to provide rapid, integrated design environments for project engineers.

At PTC user events in Europe this winter, CSG showed visitors how to eliminate frustrations surrounding the planning and layout of large installations or the drafting requirements for downstream manufacturing processes.

Its MPDS4 Factory Layout project engineering software offers a solution for rapid installation design among Pro/Engineer users who deliver or maintain complete factories, while STHENO/PRO offers powerful integrated drafting, now for Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.

Turnkey installation designers who work with 2D drawings, which are ideal for quick and easy industrial layouts, often miss the ability to visualise their designs or detect clashes in 3D space.

They find that 3D modelling systems - perfect for creating individual machinery designs in great detail - are not intended for easily producing large 3D layouts of complete installations.

So although 3D really brings ideas to life for clients, the expertise, time and cost required means that it is rarely deployed in the pre-sales stage, when time is of the essence, and work is non-chargeable.

MPDS4 Factory Layout allows designers the freedom to quickly generate 3D installations from 2D layouts, or work directly in the 3D plant environment.

CSG has been demonstrating how its solutions help increase competitiveness from the pre-sales stage through to project delivery and maintenance.

The approach offered by the MPDS4 Factory Layout package combines drafting power tools for easy industrial layouts with the advanced 3D capabilities of a plant design system, including fast visualisations for tender designs.

It makes use of existing Pro/Engineer or other 3D models, as well as allowing engineers to create 3D geometry, walls and windows quickly on the fly.

The software integrates easily with the PTC Pro/Engineer and PDM environment.

STHENO/PRO addresses the drafting, detailing and legacy data integration requirements of Pro/Engineer users, who often struggle with non-integrated 2D systems.

It slots in with their 3D strategy, allowing them to integrate, edit and consolidate their 2D drawings and legacy data within their Pro/Engineer environment.

CAD Schroer will showcase its solutions at major industry events in 2009.
