High speed machining VMC maximises
productivity
High chip removal, high speed machining and quick set up and change over times of a 1.8m X-axis VMC give maximum productivity and at the same time deliver very high machining accuracy.
CNC Machine Tools, exclusive UK Distributors for the Eikon, Italy, range of innovative, high performance, vertical spindle prismatic CNC machining centres exhibited the versatile 1.8m X-axis travel MV3 model at MACH 2004 'Through its innovative design and build quality, the MV3 offers many advantages and benefits to end users for the production of complex parts, including high chip removal, high speed machining, quick set up and change over times, giving maximum productivity and at the same time delivering very high machining accuracy', says Eddie Clapham, Sales Director The Eikon MV3 machine is designed to allow non-stop manufacturing and the elimination of idle time

Long X-axis VMC allows pendular machining cycles
Designed to allow a non-stop manufacturing system that eliminates idle time, a VMC with a long X-axis, is equipped with a partition, which allows pendular machining.
Mill-turning centre has horizontal/vertical axis
Mill-turning centre has three distinct modules all in one machine; a turning unit with horizontal axis, a turning unit with vertical axis and a multi-purpose head with a swivelling B axis.
The machine is equipped with a partition, which allows pendulum machining.
Loading of one side can be made during the production cycle of the other side of the machine.
Eliminating these loading/unloading idle times provides the user with maximum productivity, both in the machining of medium-large sized batches and in the machining of different families of work pieces in single batches and of small sizes.

Machine tool service has to be memorable
"Providing a memorable service experience is crucial to customer satisfaction and the development of long term relationships," says Paul Lee, Managing Director, CNC Machine Tools.
Higher speed VMC offers expanded capacity
Increased axis travels to X 1850mm Y 700mm and Z 480mm feature a moving column design machining centre that offers a 12,000 or 24,000 rpm spindle.
Travelling column VMC has dual-pallet indexing
Vertical machining centre with a travelling column design and integrated rotary dual-pallet indexing system provides higher levels of productivity and output and efficient workpiece loading/unloading.
Very fast chip-to-chip time of only 3 seconds is achieved through the machines high-speed spindle, very quick tool change time of 1.3 seconds maximum and 40m/min rapid traverse speed The vertical machining centre moving column design guarantees maximum accuracy in all work conditions, thanks to the precise construction and excellent support over the entire machining area.
High speed machining is available due to the rapid traverse rates of 40m/min over the whole working area.
The MV3 machine is equipped with a 12.000 rev/min (ISO 40) or optionally 24.000 rev/min (HSK 63) spindle.
The spindle power can reach 11kW.
The machine can also accept an ultra high-speed 32,000 rev/min spindle (HSK-50) with special ceramic bearings.
The automatic tool change, provided by a double arm and a random selection, has 20 (or optionally 36) locations storage.
A centralized coolant device is fitted as standard supplied by an automatic pump.
A secondary coolant pump ensures swarf is kept clear of the working area.
Through spindle coolant is also available as an optional specification.
Another advantage is the outstanding longitudinal X-axis travel values.
The full X-axis on the MV series machines have a usable work surface from 1500 up to 2000mm in length making them ideal for longer work pieces without comparable increases in Y and Z axes.
The MV3 X-axis travel is 1800mm, Y-axis 500mm and Z-axis 450mm.
The latest computer aided technology has produced a machine frame, which guarantees stability and rigidity even under heavy working conditions.
The X-Y-Z feed is obtained by brushless AC servomotors connected with high precision ball screws.
For the X-axis, the machine has a rotary nut screw, which increases rigidity over the longer travel ranges.
For highest efficiency, the MV 3 machine can also be built with a twin spindle configuration (DS series), which gives double the output compared to the standard machine.
This also features a double tool change system with 2 x 20 (optional 36) tool positions.
The MV series can also be supplied with a wide range of CNC systems: Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain which enables it to be adapted to real working conditions depending on the end user's requirements.
