Improved productivity and better presentation are just two of the benefits experienced by using a dual stretch wrapping and strapping machine developed by Cyklop.

The TwinPack machine has also increased the company's versatility whilst saving time, space and material cost TwinPack is an ingenious combination of two Cyklop machines: a GL 215 stretch wrapper and an XP 112 MVB strapping machine

Centrally controlled to ensure optimal operation, it adds flexibility to any packaging requirement by enabling an operator to strap only, wrap only or strap and wrap according to need.

And equipped with a CFH 1 high tension sealer head, a perfect strapping result can be guaranteed every time.

Primarily designed to protect palletised goods during transportation, the customer determines the type and level of load protection required using the appropriate programme pre-selection.

A pallet is placed on the turntable and the strapping cycle started.

When this is finished the pallet can be stretch wrapped for added security and protection, or removed.

Alternatively, the strapping cycle can be by-passed and the load only stretch wrapped.

Strap, wrap, or strap and wrap - the operator only has to place the pallet once, reducing the amount of manpower required for the operation and considerably increasing the number of pallets that can be processed each hour.

The TwinPack's versatility, together with its relatively smaller footprint, seemed the ideal packaging solution for CRP Print, which had been strapping by hand and wrapping with a semi-automatic machine until contacted by Cyklop UK, the Cambridgeshire-based manufacturer of a wide variety of automatic packaging solutions.

CRP estimates that strapping and wrapping used to take about four minutes per load, which added up to a considerable amount of time over the average 72 loads it needs to process each day.

Now, with the TwinPack installed, the company saves having one person tied up for four to five hours each day and says the powered prestretch system on the TwinPack reduces film usage by 30%.

Additionally, there has been a 10% saving on space that can now be used for other things.

At CRP Print, a warehouse operator places a pallet onto the machine and starts the required cycle.

Whilst this is taking place they can prepare the next pallet or rack/load completed pallets.

No time is wasted and the end result is better than that previously achieved by the manual operation.

Speaking on CRP Print's experience with the new machine, Operations Manager Gil Mather says: "The machine is easy to use, very versatile and has considerably improved the presentation of pallets to our customers.

"It has improved all areas of our packing facility and allows warehouse staff more time to concentrate on loading vehicles and warehousing stock.

This means the whole operation is now mostly completed in-house and as a result we have been able to make additional savings by reducing our use of agency staff at peak periods." The Cyklop TwinPack can strap and wrap load widths from 300 to 2,000mm and load heights from 500 to 3,000mm, with a throughput of 30 pallets per hour.

With a maximum pallet load weight of 1500kg, the stretch wrapping operation features 4 standard programmes (including rainproof) and offers the option of an additional two free programmes.
