Machine radius grinds hard metal
punches/dies
A radius grinding machine produces hard metal punches and cutting dies for the can, battery, copper pipe and cutting tool insert manufacturers.
Overbeck has developed its IRD-200 radius grinding machine for small size parts The machine is designed specifically fto grind hard metal punches and cutting dies for the can, battery, copper pipe and cutting tool insert manufacturers

Modular cylindrical grinders can be customised
A modular concept allows the building of customised cylindrical grinding machine that is ideally suitable for medium to large components and medium volume production applications.
Facing and internal grinding made in one set-up
Facing and internal grinding machine can concentrate and combine serveral operations - including profile grinding - into one set-up under CNC.
The IRD-200 showed at EMO 2007 was delivered to can manufacturer Rexam.
The range of high precision radii and internal grinding machines includes a workhead assembled on a rotary axis driven by an integrated motor controlled by CNC, achieving a very fast and accurate positioning.
The swivelling capacity is from - 15 to +90 deg and allows all necessary positions to be reached to achieve the desired radius and shape by interpolation with the grinding spindle at 25.000 rev/min.
Furthermore, the 3-axis interpolation software gives optimum results without the intervention of the operator as all corrections are carried out automatically.
The natural granite bed assures a high, both thermal and dynamic, stability.
The machine is equipped with high torque motors on the rotary axes and linear motors on the in-feed and longitudinal axes, this combined with linear scales of the highest precision produces the best working dynamic conditions and minimises the maintenance costs.
Specifications include the following.
* Maximum length to grind - 80mm.
* Height of centres - 100mm.
* Maximum ID to be groun - 80mm.
* Maximum weight of workpiece - 30kg.
* Control unit - Siemens 840D CNC.
