Ultra compact worm gear units are now made to an environmental classification for use in hygienic food production areas by using an aluminium oxide finish on the gear case, flanges and feet.

Ultra compact worm gear units are now produced to an environmental classification for use in hygienic food production areas through the use of an aluminium oxide finish on the gear case, flanges and feet TuframR converts the aluminium case into an aluminium oxide finish, impregnated and coated with plastic to enable installation in areas normally reserved exclusively for stainless steel

The BS range from David Brown Engineering, a Textron Fluid and Power company, is designed to provide high overloading and shock absorbing capacity, and offers several hollow bore shaft options and IEC standard motor connections for flexibility in choice of motors.

Elastic couplings on the BS range provide smooth starting/stopping and spare the machine, motor and gear day-to-day wear, at the same time isolating and protecting the gearbox from damage by motor failure or faults.

Sizes 40-71 are stock items available for immediate delivery from the standard range, and the units are easy to install without the need for alignment or base support.

All BS worm gear units are characterised by compact design and high capacity.

The gear housings are universal and are supremely versatile, offering endless combinations.

Few components means small installation dimensions, and the worm wheels themselves are made of tin bronze for lower friction and higher efficiency.

David Brown application engineers can also help original equipment manufacturers to design the ideal drive system for their particular application, building on the characteristics of BS units and advising on specifying options, gear ratios and speeds.
