Advanced motion control and efficient movement of products and materials are afforded by low and zero backlash precision motion control products and proven industrial geared motors and reducers.

David Brown Engineering is presenting a master-class for the food processing, beverage and packaging sectors in the delivery of advanced motion control and efficient movement of products and materials at Foodex Meatex 2004 Visitors to Stand 5319 in Hall 5 will be introduced to low and zero backlash precision motion control products and proven industrial geared motors and reducers designed to meet the need for minimum maintenance, high performance and stringent hygiene standards

The BS range of ultra compact worm gear units with a new food-friendly environmental classification and Series W 'Whisperdrive' high torque, low noise right angle units will feature alongside Series E planetary in-line gearheads that provide the highest efficiency and lowest backlash in the industry.

The stand will also showcase the advantages offered by the Series M, C, F and K range of inline, right angle and shaft mount geared motor units now available in high efficiency format, combined with ultimate user-friendly flexibility offered by the patented motor adaptor developed by David Brown, a Textron Fluid and Power company.

Flexiwrap non-lubricated couplings complete the product line-up.

The BS range of ultra compact worm gear units has gained an environmental classification for use in hygienic food production areas through the use of a TuframR coating on the gear case, flanges and feet.

It converts the aluminium case into an aluminium oxide finish, impregnated and coated with plastic to enable installation in areas normally reserved exclusively for stainless steel.

Designed to provide high overloading and shock absorbing capacity, the BS range offers several hollow bore shaft options and IEC standard motor connections for flexibility in choice of motors.

Sizes 40-71 are stock items immediately available and installation requires no alignment or base support.

The Series M, C, F and K range of inline, right angle and shaft mount geared motor units are now available in high efficiency format offering the most advanced drive solutions state of the art engineering can provide.

A special feature of the display will be the Series C heavy-duty stirrer unit developed to deliver outstanding performance in the beverage and food sectors.

The four ranges are designed to suit standard IEC/NEMA motors and dimensional interchangeability with other European manufacturers allows quick and simple replacement, whilst simultaneously upgrading the gear unit to a David Brown energy efficient geared motor.

The patented motor adaptor houses the connector in its own bearing and seal arrangement and its reduced loading prolongs the life of the motor due to.

It allows the motor to be changed without the need to drain the lubricant form the gear unit making the David Brown range of geared motors the most user friendly for the maintenance engineer.

The result of this winning combination from David Brown is reduced running costs and reduced downtime.

Designed for environments where many servo gearheads run simultaneously, the Series W 'Whisperdrive' range employs Textron's patented single stage double-enveloping worm gearing in exact gear ratios from 5:1 to 60:1 and output torque up to 880Nm.

Available in standard (three arc-minutes), low and true zero backlash formats for absolute precision, the units feature hollow output shafts and tough anodised aluminium housings filled with synthetic lubricant and double sealed for life.

A shrink disc hollow shaft option offers enhanced accuracy, and single and double extended solid shafts ensure total mounting flexibility.

Series E planetary in-line gearheads are designed to save space while providing quiet, accurate advanced positioning performance.

Tough, compact yet lightweight cube housings incorporate precision bearings and precision honed planetary gearing, to offer exact ratios from 3:1 to 40:1.

Completing the line-up is the Flexiwrap Elastomer low-cost, low-maintenance, non-lubricated couplings allow for rapid replacement without disturbing connected equipment.

Advanced manufacturing methods and innovative materials enable Flexiwrap Couplings to provide a higher capacity rating at a highly competitive price, and allow David Brown to offer a 3-year heavy-duty warranty.
