FeatureCAM supports advanced mill-turn centres
Delcam's latest FeatureCAM version offers more support for advanced CNC mill-turn centres with multiple turrets and/or multiple spindles.
It will enable companies to upgrade existing co-ordinate measuring machines for the inspection of prototypes, tooling and sample parts against CAD data.
Customers around the world, in a range of industries, are now demanding more thorough inspection procedures as part of their standard terms and conditions when placing orders.
Suppliers know that they must introduce more formal inspection systems but are inhibited by the cost and complexity of much of the equipment that is available.

The Delcam/Renishaw upgrade offers an alternative approach that reduces the level of investment needed and that gives easy to understand reports from easy to use software.
The UCC controller family offers advanced adaptive scanning, enabling accurate high-speed scanning, whilst also providing true multi-sensor integration, making it ideal for retrofit/re-builders and end-users requiring system upgrades.
The controller, which supports the complete range of Renishaw's probe systems, is available with three levels of operational capability, ranging from the control of machines operating with conventional touch-trigger probes, through to reverse engineering and digitising with analogue probes, and full high-speed part scanning.
Delcam's PowerINSPECT is one of the world's leading hardware-independent inspection systems and matches both the speed and versatility of the UCC controller.
The software is capable of analysing up to 3,000 points each second in real time.
This allows any problems in the sample to be identified extremely quickly.
PowerINSPECT has the flexibility to meet all inspection needs, including checking of geometric features, sections and edges, as well as surfaces.
Furthermore, reports, with pictorial, graphical and tabulated data, can be produced to recognised international standards or in any customer-specified format.
This flexibility ensures that the resulting reports can be easily understood by everyone involved in collecting or analysing the inspection data.
Commented Brian Gow, Marketing Manager for Renishaw's CMM Products Division, "The close integration of Delcam's PowerINSPECT Software with Renishaw's UCC controllers and probe systems provides a robust solution for the wide range of applications that the retrofit market demands.
" "We are extremely pleased to be working together with Renishaw to help companies improve their quality in today's competitive manufacturing environment," added Delcam's PowerINSPECT Product Manager Chris Lawrie.
"We are both UK companies that have become recognised internationally as leaders in our respective fields.
We also serve many of the same industries, including toolmakers and precision machinists, that have to work to the highest quality standards." Delcam is the world's leading developer of CADCAM software for the three-dimensional design, manufacture and inspection of complex shapes.
The company is firmly established as the world's leading international supplier of specialist software for the toolmaking industry.
Delcam's Power Solution software is distributed by over 100 subsidiaries, joint ventures and resellers in 70 countries and is used by more than 8,000 companies worldwide.
Renishaw, one of the world's leading metrology companies, supplies products to manufacturing companies worldwide, all designed to increase productivity and improve product quality in a competitive manufacturing environment.
Renishaw's probe systems for CMMs are an industry standard, while probing systems for machine tools automate tool setting, workpiece set-up and inspection.
Further successful developments include scanning systems for reverse engineering applications, calibration systems for machine performance control, linear and rotary encoders for position feedback on motion systems, and Raman microscopes for spectral analysis of materials.
