Delcam acquires PartMaker developer IMCS
Delcam has acquired of the USA-based company International Manufacturing Computer Services (IMCS), the developer of the PartMaker suite of CAM software for multi-axis turning.
Delcam has consolidated its position as the world's leading specialist supplier of machining software and associated services with the acquisition of the USA-based company International Manufacturing Computer Services (IMCS), the developer of the PartMaker suite of CAM software The IMCS range includes the industry-leading applications for the programming of multi-axis lathes, PartMaker SwissCAM (for Swiss-type lathes) and PartMaker Turn-Mill (for turn-mill centres with live tooling), so the acquisition further extends Delcam's comprehensive family of machining software, as well as reinforcing the company's position in the USA market

PartMaker CAM programs mill-turn centres
Delcam has launched the latest version of its PartMaker family of software, which now offers programming of turn-mill equipment and Swiss-type automatic lathes.
This latest expansion will follow a similar pattern to Delcam's acquisition of FeatureCAM last year in that PartMaker and SwissCAM will continue as independent product lines, developed in the USA, but will be marketed worldwide through Delcam's network of more than 150 subsidiary and reseller offices in over 60 countries.
"Multi-axis turning equipment is becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated, and so needs dedicated, specialist software," commented Delcam's managing director, Hugh Humphreys.
"The addition of the PartMaker software to our existing range will allow us to support companies around the world that wish to introduce these advanced machines." Humphreys added: "IMCS produced record sales and profits during 2005 and has continued its strong sales and profit growth through the first half of 2006, so the acquisition will strengthen Delcam's overall performance.

With the greatly expanded distribution that our resellers can provide, we are confident we can reproduce internationally the success that IMCS has achieved in North America." IMCS was founded in 1991 by Lena Fishman, who is known throughout the CAM industry as the inventor of EZ-CAM during her time as the manager of Software Development at Bridgeport Machines The company subsequently specialised in software for more complex turning equipment and has experienced rapid growth in the last eight years as these machines have become more popular.
IMCS currently enjoys strong global relationships with the leading machine tool builders in the sector, including Hardinge, Tornos, Star Micronics, Nomura and others.
Many of the leading users of multi-axis and Swiss-type turning equipment, including the world's three largest medical device manufacturers, have chosen PartMaker for the programming of their machines.
The software is also used in the aerospace, telecommunications and contract manufacturing sectors by customers from small sub-contractors to Fortune 500 companies.
"Currently, approximately 90% of our sales originate from North American accounts," said IMCS president Hanan Fishman.
