High speed, 5-axis machining software
shown
IMTS will be the first opportunity for North American machinists to see PowerMILL 7, the latest version of Delcam's industry-leading program for high-speed and five axis machining.
At IMTS, Delcam will reinforce its position as the world's leading specialist CAM company with displays of its complete suite of CAM software on three booths The PowerMILL range will be demonstrated on booth D-3115, the FeatureCAM family on booth D-3228 and the recently-acquired PartMaker and SwissCAM programs on booth D-3106

PartMaker CAM programs mill-turn centres
Delcam has launched the latest version of its PartMaker family of software, which now offers programming of turn-mill equipment and Swiss-type automatic lathes.
In addition, the various Delcam programs will be featured in action on more than 20 partner company displays.
Each booth will feature new versions of the respective products.

CAD/CAM software speeds prototype lead-times
A US plastics and metal product prototyping company reported that use of Delcam's PowerSHAPE design software and the PowerMILL CAM system has reduced its delivery times by 50%.
FeatureCAM software allows short lead times
By using Delcam's FeatureCAM CAM software, Tim Hawkins of Redline Precision Machine can generate hundreds of CNC programs each month
This latest release includes a wider range of five-axis strategies for both roughing and finishing, and three-axis swarf machining and parametric surface finishing, together with an integrated CAD module for model repair, faster calculation times and easier data management.
Together, these enhancements will enable Delcam's customers to increase productivity during both programming and machining, improve quality and reduce lead times.
New toolpath editing functions within FeatureCAM will be shown on booth D-3228.
The increased ability to make edits to the automatically-generated toolpaths can reduce cycle time on the machine.
In many cases, even a few minor changes can save significant amounts of time when production machining large runs of parts.
Examples of edits now possible in the program include changing a rapid move to a linear feed move, changing a linear move to an arc, setting or changing the feed rate, deleting a move, inserting a toolpath from another operation, reversing the path, combining two moves into a single move, as well as several other options.
A new machine simulation module for the PartMaker software will be demonstrated for the first time on booth D-3106.
The module provides full machine simulation based on actual machine solid models so providing more realistic verification and improved collision detection.
This new module will allow PartMaker users to perform an even more robust machining simulation than is currently offered by the software.
The machine model being simulated incorporates machine specific tool holders and attachments to ensure that any possible collisions that could occur on the machine will be detected off-line on the user's PC.
More than 20 machine tool and metrology equipment partners will feature programs from Delcam, including Bridgeport, CMS, Correa, Haas, Makino, Matsuura, Millstar, Mikron, Motoman, Sodick, CimCore, Exact Metrology, FARO, Leica, Metris, Northern Digital and Renishaw.
"Delcam will be showing all our products at IMTS, with virtual demonstrations in the CADCAM area at the exhibition," explained Delcam's marketing director Bart Simpson.
"We are most grateful to our machine tool partners for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate that all Delcam's programs run as well in practice as they do on the computer screen." * Delcam at IMTS 2006, Chicago, USA, September 6-13, Booths D3106, D-3115 and D-3228.
