Ministry Of Defence Adds Delcam's PS-Team System
Delcam's PS-Team collaboration system has been chosen to support a critical element of the Ministry of Defence's pilot "Whole Fleet Management" concept.
UK Ministry of Defence adds Delcam's PS-Team collaboration system Delcam's web-based task management and team collaboration system, PS-Team, has been chosen to support a critical element of the UK Ministry of Defence's pilot "Whole Fleet Management" concept to centralise control of vehicles across the armed forces.
The MoD is confident that savings from the more efficient use of vehicles and streamlined support administration will run into hundreds of millions of pounds.
It will enable a reduction in the overall number of vehicles, while sustaining the forces' capability by managing them as a single fleet.
PS-Team was selected by the Ministry of Defence Logistics Organisation's (DLO) systems integrator EDS at the trial stage of the WFM programme to help optimise information management without the cost penalties normally associated with new systems.
One of the most demanding aspects of implementing and supporting the WFM information systems during this rapidly changing trials phase is the receipt, tracking and implementation of change requests, formally entitled "Requests for Change".
RFCs can be raised by any user - they then need to be assessed, assigned, and completed quickly and reliably.
RFC management is an important part of the WFM information system sub-project as many issues, requests, ancillary tasks and meetings must be recorded and fully tracked.
Overall visibility of all issues and resources - and their real-time status - is critical, as is the ability to filter and sort items against a range of criteria.
PS-Team has helped eliminate the largely paper-based system, which required several signatures from different areas on a single piece of paper as part of a set of time-consuming and complex processes.
It is also enabling much more effective WFM configuration management control meetings by providing high quality, reliable information.
Overall, it is helping to save management time, eliminate bottlenecks, establish priorities and maintain a comprehensive audit trail.
PS-Team has passed the trials and met the criteria set by the MoD and EDS for a system that adds value without requiring excessive effort and time in training and support.
The system has already shown that it increases efficiency, enables faster response to requests and will help make significant financial savings every year.
"This contract to support the Whole Fleet Management programme within the MoD shows a very efficient use of our product," said PS-Team business development manager Simon Leek.
"It demonstrates its versatility and efficiency, and proves how quickly PS-Team can be implemented, and become effective, in a large organisation, without significant business process change or re-training.".
