CAD/CAM provider adds mill-turn centre
To prove out its new programs on real jobs with real deadlines, Dlcam has added a WFL mill-turn machine with a 3m working capacity to its Tooling Services Division plant.
However, recent years have seen the company increase its business with larger, multi-national organisations, especially in the aerospace industry.
"Following some recent successes, it is clear that Delcam has an excellent opportunity to achieve a higher level of sales into major international accounts," claimed managing director Hugh Humphreys.
"More and more often, we are finding that we have several of our sales partners in different countries trying to sell to various parts of the same organisation.
We need to coordinate these efforts more efficiently, both to give us a higher chance of winning the business and to enable us to support our customers more effectively." Added Humphreys: "We also need to raise our profile with larger, international manufacturing companies, many of these organisations do not realise how much Delcam has grown over recent years.
For example, they may not know that we are the world's largest specialist supplier of CAM software or that we are represented in 60 countries." Humphreys explained: "Our increased focus on larger customers comes at a time when many companies are changing their attitudes to their CAM system.
He said: "In the past, many larger companies have simply purchased the companion CAM software that accompanied their choice of design software.
Now, an increasing number of companies are realising that they need to adopt specialist CAM systems from specialist CAM suppliers if they want to increase productivity, improve quality and reduce delivery times.
Roger is ideally qualified to lead this new initiative, having developed a very extensive network of contacts from his time as GTMA president and, more recently, as a director of the Boeing AMRC in Sheffield." Onions joined Delcam in 1989, initially as area sales manager for the West Midlands, after ten years running his own company offering computer solutions, including software sales, service, training and computer-aided design.
In 1994, he was promoted to new business manager and then, in 1996, to UK sales director. Request free introductory details about products from Delcam ...
