CAM software for jewellery showcased

ArtCAM JewelSmith claimed to be the main design and manufacturing software for the jewellery industry

Delcam will demonstrate the latest release of its ArtCAM JewelSmith software for the design and manufacture of rings, brooches and other jewellery at International Jewellery London to be held at Earls Court, from 2nd to 5th September ArtCAM JewelSmith is already established as the main design and manufacturing software for the jewellery industry and Delcam will aim to consolidate its leading position at this major event for the industry

In the new release, much of the special functionality that previously existed as independent, script-based add-ins has been rewritten within the core software.

This change has delivered considerable improvements in both speed and robustness across the whole program.

It has also improved interoperability with the other products in Delcam's range of CADCAM software.

ArtCAM JewelSmith has the ability to create and edit designs as a series of layers, rather than always having to work with the complete model.

This makes it quicker and easier to create designs made up of different types of relief, for example a combination of a 3D shape, a texture and some lettering.

ArtCAM JewelSmith also allows the user to create multiple models within a single project and then arrange the individual models to create larger assemblies.

For example, various elements in a piece of jewellery could be designed as individual components and then assembled into a 3D model of the complete piece.

Elements of the design that will be created from different materials can be visualised simultaneously and then divided into separate files for manufacturing in the various materials.

Items can be cut and pasted between different files, so allowing libraries of components to be built up for use in a variety of designs.

Recent machining enhancements include two new wizards.

The first covers index machining and allows machining at a series of fixed angles on rotary equipment.

The second can be used to develop mould designs automatically from product designs, generating the parting line and the two mould sections from a user-specified block of material. Request a free brochure from Delcam ...
