Delcam informed manufacturingtalk that approval under the SolidWorks Certified CAM Products Program assures companies using SolidWorks for design that they can select FeatureCAM for their manufacturing.

The approval provides complete confidence that FeatureCAM offers best-in-class functionality and interoperability.

Partner Technical Marketing manager at SolidWorks Corporation, Chris Salmers, said: "Successful integration and interoperability between CAD and CAM are essential for our users to gain the maximum benefit from SolidWorks.

As a Certified CAM Product, FeatureCAM can read native SolidWorks geometry, which eliminates unnecessary data translation issues and so lowers costs".

Salmers added: "We also expect our Certified CAM Products to offer world-class CAM functionality.

The FeatureCAM range delivers powerful solutions and features the latest innovations in manufacturing software".

Introduced in 1995, FeatureCAM was the world's first Windows- and feature-based milling system.

Delcam told manufacturingtalk.com that since then, the product range has grown significantly to include turning, wire-EDM, mill-turn packages and feature recognition for imported CAD files.

FeatureCAM became part of the Delcam group of companies in 2005.

* 5-axis machining - the latest version of the software includes support for continuous 5-axis machining, more efficient turning through better and easier control of stock remaining, and an improved tool database with more options to link pre-defined feeds and speeds to individual tools.
