Delcam is to demonstrate the capabilities of its Powermill 9 CAM software with demonstrations on a Mazak Integrex machine at the BIMU exhibition in Milan on 3-7 October.

Powermill 9 for high-speed and five-axis machining offers users greater control over the results that their software produces.

It achieves this by making it easier for experienced users to generate toolpaths based on any 3D curve.

The software also responds to the needs of a growing number of customers who want to program everything with their CAM system, rather than just the simpler tasks such as sizing the starting block of material and cutting off.

While already available in the previous edition of Powermill, Delcam said the latest version of the software makes the complete programming process easier.

Powermill 9 incorporates a number of improvements to reduce calculation times, together with some simplification of the user interface that makes it easier to select the required command and so makes programming faster.

In addition, toolpath ordering has been made more efficient, especially for roughing and rest machining, ensuring that the cutter spends more time machining and minimal time making air moves.
