UK CNC lathe builder is sponsoring a biker n Enduro India 2007 - a 2,500km, 15-day, dawn-to-dusk charity motorcycle trek through Southern India.

A leisurely read through a local newspaper by Nigel Grainger, managing director of Keighley, West Yorkshire-based machine tool builder Dean Smith and Grace, has led to long standing friend, Alan Dowson, gaining some welcome sponsorship for a forthcoming charity motorcycle trek he is undertaking through India The newspaper carried a feature on Dowson, a paramedic based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, who is to take part in Enduro India 2007 - a 2,500km, 15-day, dawn-to-dusk trek through Southern India on Indian-built, Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles

Grainger read the story and straight away contacted his pal, who he had not seen for a number of years.

After the two had caught up on things, Nigel readily agreed to put together a sponsorship deal through Dean Smith and Grace.

The classic lathe maker will provide significant sponsorship for Alan to take part in the event, and supply clothing and equipment for the trip itself.

Grainger commented: "I was surprised and delighted to see the article featuring Alan in the local paper and I am very pleased for Dean Smith and Grace to provide some support.

With Alan sporting clothing incorporating our company logo, and India being a target export market for our lathes, who knows, perhaps he could come back with a major order for us." Dowson commented: "Nigel, Dean Smith and Grace and the local community have provided invaluable support for my Enduro India trio.

I go well equipped and the kindness demonstrated by these people will do a powerful lot of good through Enduro India's worthy charities." Each of the participants has to provide personal sponsorship to the tune of GBP 3,850 and from the total proceeds GBP 100,000 is donated to designated charities.

In 2007, Enduro India is supporting the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, the Mother Teresa Educational and Charitable Society, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
