ERP cuts coatings manufacturer's IT costs

A Deacom product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 1, 2008

US inks and coatings manufacturer has integrated its business processes in a single system through using DEACOM Integrated Accounting and ERP software system.

By deploying the DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system, American Inks and Coatings has simplified its software and hardware environment by integrating its business processes in a single system.

Based in Sheridan, AR, USA, American Inks and Coatings used to use three customised software systems and more than 20 servers to manage its six manufacturing facilities, IT office, and home office.

Controller of American Inks and Coatings, Rob Raeke, said: "We had interfaces which let our three custom-written systems work together".

"The problem was they didn't always work".

He explained: "It took a full-time project manager and a programmer to keep daily tasks running and the system data linked.

With DEACOM, our daily suspended batches are gone, we closed our offsite IT office, and our IT staff has gone from four to one".

Since going live on the DEACOM System in May of 2008, American Inks and Coatings now handles the following in one software system, which runs on two servers.

* Formulation and laboratory management.

* Sales order entry.

* Accounting/financials.

* Purchasing.

* Regulatory reporting, * Inventory control and lot tracking.

* Production processes.

Raeke concluded: "With fewer servers and only one software system to manage, DEACOM has allowed us to run our department less like an IT software project and more like a business".

About Deacom - headquartered in Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA, Deacom Incorporated is the producer of DEACOM, a complete accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for building component, process, and mixed-mode manufacturers with difficult-to-handle requirements.
