The DPR-1260 has also been developed to be user friendly.
Printing a file on a network printer is simple, and users can easily control the scanning of documents and photos directly from their computer.
Additionally, the multifunction printer's scanning function can be controlled over a wireless network.
Users can share data through the memory card on the multifunction printer's slot, and print it through the same printer wirelessly.
DPR-1260 offers wireless speeds of up to 108Mbps Turbo mode from any computer equipped with 2.4GHz frequency band wireless interface.
The printer server also has an Ethernet port that can serve as a wireless bridge.
This provides wireless connectivity for any Ethernet-enabled device, such as a computer, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), or Network-Attached Storage (NAS) to the network printers.
All shared devices attached to the DPR-1260 can print and scan at the same time, giving this multi-port print server a similar performance as 4 separate single- port print servers.
Security has been addressed too, with the DPR-1260 providing the necessary security for wireless users, using the user-selectable 64/128-bit industry-standard WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) data encryption and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA-PSK, WPA-EAP).
It supports many network operating systems, including Windows and Linux, giving users the flexibility to install the print server regardless of the network environment.
A quick installation wizard is also included to help users set up the print server and attached printers.
Tested with a wide range of different printer models, the DPR1260 offers a high level of compatibility with a wide range of USB multifunction printers and scanners.
It is backward compatible with USB 1.1/1.0 printers.
"The DPR-1260 is a great wireless device for making the most of your USB multifunction printers or other devices on your network", commented Tahira Perveen, Country Sales Manager UK and Ireland for D-Link.
"This print server carries a lot of functionality for a compact device as it can also be used as a wireless adapter, providing wireless connectivity for any Ethernet enabled device".
