Centre machines bar components on six
sides
A bar machining centre mills, drills, bores, parts off and back end machines precision cubical parts from 1100mm bar delivered by a bar feed magazine.
With the DMC 60 S Deckel Maho presents a new bar machining center for six-sided complete machining of cubical parts Milling from the bar is undoubtedly the most elegant and also the fastest way to earn money - the liquidity of the company is improved, the flexibility of the process increased, equipment costs are minimized, and cycle times are reduced This is all made possible by the bar machining center DMC 60 S for automatic complete machining, without equipment and including machining of the 6th side, while fast rotary- and linear axes ensure high dynamics

CNC miller-drillers cut 20% off machining times
With the highly productive DMU 50 / 70 eVolution, DMG has added a new dimension to universal milling and drilling machines designed to save up to 20% on machining times.
When the basic components of the DMC 60 S were designed, the well-tried features of the monoblock series were the model.
Consequently, the new bar machining center has two machining axes in the tool, a CNC-driven milling head with a swivel range of 150deg, as well as an excellent 28kW-motor spindle with 12,000 rpm (optionally 18,000 rpm) ensuring excellent milling performance.
Furthermore, ultra fast tool change-over times of only 1.8 seconds and a magazine expandable to 120 tools ensure the highest degree of productivity.

Bar feeder has high capacity
SACO's new bar feeder reduces idle times and offers high precision and flexibility. Idle time for bar feeding to the collet is considerably reduced.
The transformation of the universal machine to a highly productive complete machining center takes place in the work area.
Here, a vertical clamping table functions as a multi-functional interface between the horizontal NC rotary-axis with integrated clamping system for bar material up to 103mm diameter on the one hand, and the tool gripper for machining the sixth side on the other hand.
Furthermore, as a unique solution for detailing tasks, a tailstock can be added for collision-free machining even when the tool is in the horizontal position.
The DMC 60 S also feeds the raw bar material automatically from a bar loading magazine.
From there, the NC-driven feed mechanism very precisely loads the bar into the work-piece spindle that is conceived as an NC parts-apparatus.
Subsequently, the work piece is machined from 5 sides.
After that, the gripper arm reaches into the work area and clamps the work piece hydraulically, before it is separated from the remaining material.
Immediately, the gripper pivots by 90deg, and brings the work piece under the milling head to position it for the tool with the help of an integrated NC rotary axis.
Finally, the part is placed on a conveyor and removed from the work area of the DMC 60 S.
In the mean-time, the NC bar loader has already positioned the bar material into the tool spindle again so that the next part can be machined.
This ends the integrated logistics cycle, which allows for automatic machining even of small batch sizes.
Additional equipment is a thing of the past, and setup times are minimized.
Consequently, only the gripper clamp and the guiding tube have to be switched over for job changes, which is achieved both easily and quickly through the vertically traversable tool spindle.
Apart from the high degree of productivity made possible by these features of the DMC 60 S, the machine also offers impressive operator accessibility.
Highlights of the DMC 60 S are: * Complete machining, including that of the sixth side.
* Novel solution for details: tailstock (A-axis) with collision-free machining even with the tool in horizontal position.
* NC bar loader with magazine for automated bar feed, which means lower idle times during bar loading.
* Simple and fast guidance tube change, since the NC rotary axis (A-axis) is vertically traversable.
* Fast tool changes, and thus a short chip-to-chip time of only 3 seconds and the tool magazine is expandable to 120 stations.
* Optional deployment of chucks up to 315mm diameter.
* Easy part disposal via conveyor already in the standard version.
Specificationsof the DMC 60 S include X, Y and Z axis of 765, 460 and 650mm with traverse rates up to 50m/min.
Bar length and diameter capacity is 1100mm by 103mm OD.
CNC used is Siemens 840D powerline.
