Long bed centre has tool change shuttle
magazine
In the design a traversing column machining centre with 3600mm of X-axis travel, a novel tool magazine shuttle serves the machining head, without the head having to return to load tools.
The DMF 360 linear by Deckel Maho opens up exciting new possibilities, because of its highly dynamic linear drive, 3600mm X-axis- and 900mm Y-travel, for machining both long and heavy work pieces The new DMF 360 linear now makes the novel Deckel Maho traversing column design with linear drive available also for the sector of heavy parts machining with lengths above 3m The 100m/min-traverse speed of the column is a special plus for large machines like the DMF 360 linear, with its X-path of 3.6m

CNC miller-drillers cut 20% off machining times
With the highly productive DMU 50 / 70 eVolution, DMG has added a new dimension to universal milling and drilling machines designed to save up to 20% on machining times.
This leads to a three-fold increase of positioning accuracy in comparison to conventional machines.
Furthermore, the linear drive moves into position very precisely and wear-free for years to come.
And this is important, since double linear drives are deployed in this first size-2 machine, achieving high not only traverse speeds, but also bringing high feed powers of 12kN to bear on the work piece.

Bar feeder has high capacity
SACO's new bar feeder reduces idle times and offers high precision and flexibility. Idle time for bar feeding to the collet is considerably reduced.
While the tool magazine in size-1 machines can still be moved with the traversing column, Deckel Maho came up with a smart solution for the new DMF 360 linear, because of the expectedly large tools and the overall weight of the magazine.
Therefore, the entire tool magazine with its 30 stations rides on a separate shuttle, which is also equipped with a linear drive.
Only during tool-change does the magazine move towards the column, and only then does it "disturb" the dynamic cutting process.
If you find the 30-tool capacity insufficient, you have the option of deploying a shelf magazine with 80- or 120 tools on the side of the machine.
In this case, a lightly constructed tool-shuttle comes into use, which makes the tools available parallel to production time with extreme accelerations of 1G so that fast chip-to-chip times of 10 seconds can be maintained at all times.
The traversing columns of the DMF 360 linear are constructed in diagonally-ribbed design.
Considering its massive Z-slide, which in turn forms an exceptionally compact unit with the Y-slide, this work module is equipped to handle all the demands of modern metal removal technology, not last because of the fast motor spindle with maximum speeds of 18,000 rpm, and the optional milling head of 10,000 rpm and 630Nm.
As an alternative to the above-mentioned vertical spindles, the DMF 360 linear is also available with a newly developed H/V head with 294Nm torque (at speeds of up to 10,000 rpm).
This permits complicated slanted bore machining, and the machining of both faces of a work piece on the one hand, as well as - in conjunction with the (optionally available) NC-rotary table - sophisticated 5-sided complete machining on the other hand.
In addition, the H/V head can be pivoted by a total of 90deg, in increments of 1 degree, into the right and left horizontal positions.
The DMF linear series is CNC-equipped either with the new Siemens 840D powerline or, optionally, the Heidenhain iTNC 530.
The machines come ready equipped to give customers access to the full range of DMG-Netservice capabilities.
Equally, the DMF 360 linear comes with an optional separation wall for pendulum machining to allow setup parallel to production time.
