VMC's linear drives accelerate axes at
up to 2G
Vertical precision machining centre equipped with linear motor drives offers axes accelerations up to 2G - and speeds up to 90m/min - to maximise dynamic response to programs and up productivity.
The prominent new development in tool and mould construction is the vertical precision machining centre DMC 75 V linear from Deckel Maho Linear drives on all axes for max

rapid traverse speeds of 90m/min, which is reflected in an enhanced productivity of up to 20%.
The basis of the machine's perfect running and therefore maximum surface qualities is formed by the stable portal-type cast design and the FEM-optimised, highly rigid machine bed.
Furthermore, direct displacement measuring systems facilitate an unbeatable machining and contour precision.
Likewise new is the option for simultaneous five-axis machining, realised by a swivel axis in the spindle head in conjunction with a CNC rotary table.
Also these two axes are fitted with direct drives and so operate in perfect harmony with the three high-speed linear axes.
Other decisive advantages are the enlarged machining chamber for the optimal chip clearance and the modified bed geometry for even better operator accessibility.
Moreover, the side door and an additional front door on the machine allow a roof crane to operate over the whole machining area.
For the controller, the vertical precision machining centre DMC 75 V linear has settled on the high-speed 3D controller Heidenhain iTNC 530.
The DMG ControlPanel with 15in TFT screen houses not only the highest-quality control technology, but a new innovative software tool ATC (application tuning cycle).
At the push of a button, ATC automatically optimises machining parameters to the respective surfaces, speed, and precision and integrates them in the workpiece program.
"Away from the standard and towards the optimum in all situations" is the target.
Instead of proceeding with the machine's basic parameters for each machining process like roughing or finishing, ATC tunes the machining cycles for the DMC 75 V linear - automatically and optimised for the specific workpiece and results.
This minimises the machining time for a maximum of relevant quality - if needed, also as a function of the workpiece's weight.
Thanks to adaptive acceleration control fitted as standard, the CNC system registers the axes' power consumption to determine the weight of the set-up workpiece and to choose the optimal parameters for dynamic response accordingly.
A large number of options rounds off the modular range of offers for the DMC 75 V linear, for example to enhance the degree of automation.
The world premiere of the DMC 75 V linear at EMO in Milan marks in addition the start of a whole series of vertical precision machining centres with linear drives on all axes.
