Whether for turning, drilling, milling, or deep-hole drilling operations on chucking, bar, or shaft components, this high speed mill-turn centre offers comprehensive complete six-side machining The new GMX 200 linear expands the series of Gildemeister turning-milling centres with diameters up to 560mm and so makes this series the most comprehensive complete six-side machining programme with linear technology

Whether for turning, drilling, milling, or deep-hole drilling operations on chucking, bar, or shaft components - with the new GMX 200 linear even the smallest member of the GMX linear Series is now equipped for major machining jobs.

Linear drive, compound rest with Y and B axes, and the turning and milling spindle for high dynamic response with 22kW drive power, 100Nm torque, and a speed of 12,000 rev/min combine even in the standard version the performance of a high-end lathe with the channelled power of a high-tech machining centre.

Like the other members of the GMX linear Series, also the GMX 200 linear presents itself as a modular machine whose high-end modular layout can be tuned to the customer's individual wishes with assured high dynamic response and precision.

The chuck-type machine as the basis, for example, can take an NC tailstock for machining shafts.

The next expansion stage introduces a counter spindle with integrated spindle motor that synchronises workpiece transfer with angle and speed and therefore optimises the max.

precision of complete six-side machining.

High-precision work in each expansion stage is ensured by direct absolute measuring systems along the linear axes for precise positioning of the carriages irrespectively of the temperature.

The use of precision glass scales also renders superfluous the otherwise time-consuming reference point system.

The turning and milling tools with HSK 63A interface or Capto receiver are kept in a rack magazine arranged behind the machine.

Up to four tools can be replaced during actual production times.

Like for the milling spindle, this principle has been adopted from the Deckel Maho machining centres.

Even the basic machine can hold forty tools, with optional double capacity.

The GMX 200 linear is controlled by the Siemens 840 D powerline, whose ultra modern Pentium technology and 3D software enhance the machine's handling reliability.

And this is especially true of the MF-Programmer 3D that simplifies programming even for complex workpieces.

This unique software package from the DMG Powertools family runs under the latest Windows technologies and can be used on either an external PC or a CNC system.

Not only interactive dialogue programming and the import of CAD data, the MF-Programmer 3D also facilitates the real-time simulation of complete program runs - including an extensive collision control.

The NC program transferred to the machine is ready to run from the first workpiece onwards.

Not least of all this feature makes the new GMX linear Series both a highly productive facility for medium piece numbers and a flexible all-round centre for small batch sizes down to one-off production, with no limits to the complexity of the workpieces.

Highlights of the GMX 200 linear include: * Complete six-side machining.

* Linear drive on the z axis for high dynamic response and precision.

* Powerful milling spindle with 12,000 rev/min and max.

130Nm (40% duty.

* User-interpolative five-axis programming for machining complex workpieces.

* Direct absolute measuring systems along all axes - no reference point system needed.

* Generously dimensioned rack magazine for up to 120 tools.

* Up to four tools replaced during actual production time.

* Siemens 840D powerline with DMG ControlPanel and 15in TFT screen.

* MF-Programmer 3D for simple, fast, and reliable programming (option).

Specifications of the GMX 200 linear: * Machining diameter, max.

- 560mm.

* Machining length, max.

(with tailstock) - 1070 (1000)mm.

* Bar diameter, max.

- 65 (90, 102)mm.

Main spindle / counter-spindle: * Drive power, max.

(40% duty) - 37 (45, 43)kW.

* Torque, max.

(40% duty) - 390 (750, 618)Nm.

Turning / milling spindle: * Spindle speed, max.

- 12,000 rev/min.

* Drive power, max.

(40% duty) - 22kW.

* B axis, swing - +/-120 deg.

* Tool magazine, number of tools - rack 40 (80) + 4.

* Controller - Siemens 840D powerline.

Summing up - the new GMX 200 linear utilises complete six-side machining for diameters up to 560mm.

Linear drive on the z axis of the GMX 200 linear ensures high dynamic response, short non-productive times, and max.

precision.

The chuck-type machine as the basis of the GMX 200 linear, for example, can take an NC tailstock for machining shafts.

The five-axis milling spindle for the GMX 200 linear presents convincing performance features like 22kW drive power, 100Nm torque, and a speed of 12,000 rev/min.

Not only interactive dialogue programming and the import of CAD data, the MF-Programmer 3D also facilitates real-time simulation.
