Linear motor axis powered mill-turn centre carries out the most comprehensive 6-sided machining, including turning, drilling, milling or deep-hole drilling of chuck, bar or shaft workpieces.

With the introduction of the new GMX 200 linear, DMG extends it turn-mill capabilities for diameters from 540mm up to 610mm, making this product line the most comprehensive for complete 6-sided machining with linear technology The GMX 200 linear has the smallest frame size of the series but whether turning, drilling, milling or deep-hole drilling of chuck, bar or shaft workpieces, it is still capable of handling large machining jobs

A linear drive on the Z-axis, compound slides with a Y- and B-axis and the highly dynamic turning and milling spindle with 100Nm and a maximum 12,000 rpm are just some of the features that make this machine both a high-end lathe and a high-tech machining centre.

Speed and angle-synchronous workpiece transfers as well as integrated spindle motors provide the shortest cycle times, both for the counter spindle and the tail stock versions.

In common with other models in the GMX linear Series, the '200' is modular in design enabling its configuration to meet customers' specific requirements.

For example although this is basically a chuck-type machine, it can easily be fitted with a tailstock for processing shaft.

The next stage of expansion is the introduction of a counter spindle with integrated spindle motor that synchronises workpiece transfer with angle and speed to provide highly precise 6-sided machining.

Direct measuring systems on all axes eliminate the need for a time-consuming reference point system.

The turning and milling tools with HSK 63A interface or Capto receiver are held in a 120-tool capacity magazine behind the machine.

The wide selection of tools and the ability to exchange up to four tools parallel to production make the GMX 200 linear equally suited to small, as well as medium, batch production.

The GMX 200 linear is controlled by the Siemens 840D powerline that works in concert with the optional MF-Programmer 3D, a system that greatly simplifies the programming of complex workpieces.

This dedicated software package from the DMG Powertools family runs under Windows and can be used on either an external PC or a CNC system.

It allows interactive dialogue programming, the importation of CAD data and facilitates the real-time simulation of complete programme runs, including extensive collision control.
